Culture Night: September 18th 2015

(Please Note Revised event times)

THE DISAPPEARED TRAMS ON THE HILL OF HOWTH

Join us in Howth Village for an immersive audio-visual experience focusing on the now forgotten Hill of Howth Tramway (c.1901 – 1959).

In association with the
Dublin Transport Museum and with Support from Fingal County Council, Experimental sound artists Adrian Hughes and Timothy O'Neill will transform The Old Courthouse (see map) in Howth village into a deeply immersive organic entity.
Ponder Old Film loop projections, walk amongst selected artifacts and sit for a while in our layered site specific sonic audio-visual cocoon.

Concurrently the National Transport Museum of Ireland will be displaying a tram and the passionate members will be on hand to answer any questions relating to the disappeared trams on the hill of Howth.

Evening time will transform the space for 2 Talks / Presentations.

Museum restorationists will inform of the exciting history found on the Hill of Howth Tram route. Followed by a talk from the Artists on their practice & methods, including information on D.I.Y creation of Audio listening devices.

Round off the evening by joining us on a
SOUNDWALK around part of the old tram route where you will have the opportunity to listen for the diverse range of sounds that vibrate across this rugged landscape.

We hope that by inviting people on a soundwalk to finish the evening they can make their own soundscape and even better, bring this practice into their daily lives for enrichment and connection.
We felt it only right that this beautiful landscape should be allowed to speak her truths and for everyone to have a chance to simply LISTEN to her speak
